Obama team plotting overthrow of Israel's Netanyahu

Special to World Tribune
Wednesday, April 28, 2010

WASHINGTON — The administration of President Barack Obama has launched what officials termed a psychological warfare campaign meant to topple Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Sources in the administration and Congress asserted that the White House and State Department have sought to destabilize Netanyahu's government by forcing him to agree to an indefinite freeze on Jewish construction in the West Bank and most of Jerusalem as well as the establishment of a Palestinian state by 2012. They said the campaign sought to replace Netanyahu with opposition leader and former foreign minister Tsipi Livni.

"Bibi is extremely vulnerable to pressure," a source familiar with the White House effort said. "We know this from his first term in office and believe he will collapse this time as well."

The sources said the administration's strategy aimed to de-legitimize Netanyahu in his government and right-wing constituency. They said Obama and his aides have sought to portray Netanyahu as a weak and unstable politician who will destroy relations with Washington as Israel seeks U.S. support for a military option against Iran.

"There seems to be a general belief in the circle around the president that the democratically-elected government in Israel is drunk at the wheel," Steven Rosen, a veteran pro-Israeli lobbyist now with the Middle East Forum, said. "They clearly will use pressure tactics to bring Israel around."

In April 2010, former U.S. ambassador to Israel Martin Indyk began a series of attacks on Netanyahu in the Israeli media. Indyk, a former assistant secretary of state under then-President Bill Clinton, has called for the toppling of Netanyahu while his right-wing partners accept a more pliant prime minister.

"Indyk was sent by Obama and encouraged by his American Jewish supporters, particularly [former Rep.] Robert Wexler, to do this," the source said.

In January 2010, Wexler resigned from Congress to become head of the Center for Middle East Peace and Economic Cooperation. The center was founded by Obama supporter Daniel Abraham and a delegation met Netanyahu in February.

The sources said the administration's campaign has included invitations to Defense Minister Ehud Barak to the White House, where he met with Obama on April 26. Barak has been regarded as the most pro-U.S. minister in Netanyahu's Cabinet and has been lobbying ministers to accept Obama's proposals.

"It's not going to be easy to turn this thing around," Rosen told a briefing on April 21. "Some of my friends in Jerusalem believe this crisis will go on for an extended period."

The anti-Netanyahu fervor has alarmed pro-Israeli members in Congress, particularly from the Democratic Party. Several of the Democrats have reported a sharp drop in funds by Jewish donors for congressional elections in November.

"This [campaign against Netanyahu] is counterproductive and has to stop," Sen. Charles Schumer, a New York Democrat who has threatened to issue a condemnation of the White House, said.

Some in the pro-Israeli community detect an anti-Semitic tinge to the White House campaign, despite the involvement of Jewish aides. On April 21, National Security Advisor James Jones stunned an audience at the pro-Israel Washington Institute when he told a joke of a Jewish merchant who tricked a thirsty Taliban fighter into buying a tie.

"I wish that I had not made this off the cuff joke at the top of my remarks," Jones later said. "I apologize to anyone who was offended by it. It also distracted from the larger message I carried that day: That the United States' commitment to Israel's security is sacrosanct."

Former State Department official Aaron Miller said Obama has surrounded himself with aides who blame Netanyahu for the suspension of the Arab-Israeli peace process. Miller said many of the aides had encountered Netanyahu during his first tenure as prime minister from 1996 to 1999.

"They had seen the Benjamin Netanyahu movie before and were determined not to let their chance at Middle East peace end the same way," Miller said in the magazine Foreign Policy. "Confronted with Netanyahu again, Obama and his team needed no encouragement to talk tough on the growing Israeli settlements in the West Bank, an issue that experts inside and outside government were clamoring for Obama to raise as the first step in his renewed push for peace. Fresh from his victory on health care, he's [Obama] king of the world again and in no mood to let the king of Israel frustrate his plans."

Apparently Obama is not aware that God will deal with his foolish soul VERY soon...
Bibi is one of the best things to happen to Israel in recent years.

Vatican and Arab League sign agreement

Israel: Both the King of Saudi Arabia and the Pope claims to be sons of Abraham, and a part of God`s plan of salvation of mankind. And they share the same views on Israel, and calls Jerusalem an occupied city.

The Vatican and the Arab League have agreed to work together to promote peace and justice in the world, the Vatican said Friday. The deal was done after a meeting between Pope Benedict XVI and the league’s secretary-general.

In a separate meeting, Amr Moussa and the Vatican’s foreign minister, Archbishop Dominique Mamberti, signed a memorandum of understanding between both sides, a Vatican statement said. During the cordial meetings, emphasis was placed on the importance of the agreement, which is intended to foster increased cooperation between the parties with a view to promoting peace and justice in the world.

Particular importance was given to the role of intercultural and interreligious dialogue, the Vatican statement said. The meetings allowed for an exchange of view on the international situation, especially in the Middle East, and on the need to find a just solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and to the other conflicts which afflict the region, the Holy See said.

The pope travels to the Middle East next month on a Holy Land pilgrimage. Benedict will visit Jordan, Israel and the Palestinian territories. The Arab League demands that Israel shall give up Jerusalem as its capital, that the Jews shall leave their homes in Samaria and Judea, and give this Biblical heartland over to Muslim control so that a new Islamic state can be formed. The Islamic republic of Iran is not a member of the Arab League, located out of what is called the Arab World.

What???
Israel give up Jerusalem?
Jews leave Samaria and Judea?
Muslim control of Biblical heartland?
A new Islamic state?

They have no right or authority to demand anything!!! Stay tuned...

War with Iran--Years v/s Weeks??

by Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu No ‘Six-Day War’ against Iran

If war breaks out between Iran and Israel, it likely would last for ”years and not weeks,” according to Bar-Ilan University researcher Dr. Moshe Vered. Iran also might target Jews around the world.

He calls on Israel to internalize the prospect of an unprecedented lengthy war and explains that once the government and public understand the threat, they will be better prepared to find ways to shorten the conflict.

A researcher at the university’s Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies, he recently published a sobering paper that based his hypothesis on the Iranian Shi’ite Muslim approach that the very existence of Israel is an insult to Muslims. He states that its philosophy is that “Allah promises them victory” and there is an obligation of Muslims to sacrifice themselves and surrender material goods for the sake of annihilating the Jewish State.

Entitled “The length and conditions for ending a future war between Iran and Israel,” the research paper notes that Iran fought Iraq for eight years despite suffering the deaths of half a million people, with another two million wounded and catastrophic damage to the economic infrastructure, amounting to $100 billion.

Dr. Vered (pictured at left) pointed out that the war ended only when the Shi’ite rulers in Iran realized that the regime was in jeopardy. Until then, the leaders felt there was no room for compromise.

The scenario
He rules out ideas that a quick missile war would put an end to a conflict because neither side would score a “knock-out,” and Iran does not have the capability of successfully attacking Israel with hundreds of long-range missiles.

He predicts it is more likely that if Israel initiates a pre-emptive strike, Iran will play the role of the victim and let the international community condemn Israel. At the same time, Tehran would secretly ferry troops into Syria and Lebanon, possibly through Shi’ite communities in Iraq and with the silent approval of Turkey.

The next stage in the war would be massive rocket attacks by Hamas from the south and Hizbullah from the north. Israeli military intelligence officials estimate that both terrorist organizations possess advanced missiles far beyond what were used in the 34-day-old Second Lebanon War in 2006.

With long-range weapons that could be fired from deep in Lebanon, Israel would be forced into capturing most of the country, and face a deadly and costly guerilla war. At the same time, a massive military threat from Syrian territory to the Golan Heights would require large numbers of reservists to defend the region.

El Al planes to be targeted?
Iran also probably would try to target Jews around the world, especially El Al planes, synagogues, Israeli offices abroad and Jewish community centers. Hamas would resume suicide attacks against Israel.

Dr. Vered points out that there are those who think that Iran’s verbal threats against Israel are for internal political consumption, in which case war is a distant possibility. However, Shi’ite fundamentalism requires a “holy war” to wipe out Israel, whose existence violates Muslim principles against Jews ruling ”Muslim land,” meaning Israel, and having sovereignty over Muslims in the country. Israel also stands in Iran's way to become the dominant force in the Middle East.

Muslim rulers always have tolerated Jews on condition that they are a small minority and dependent on their host rulers, Dr. Vered explains.

His sees three possibilities for a quick end to a war, barring a new level of understanding and preparedness by Israel. International interference and the use of nuclear weapons, presumably by Israel, are two options.

However, he explains that whereas world leaders previously shortened Israeli-Arab wars, with Israel usually having the upper hand, the Jewish State presumably would not be in such an advantageous position against Iran. The result would be pressure on Tehran, where the Shi’ite philosophy does not allow compromise.

Pressure would be wielded against Israel if the Israeli Air Force were to bomb Iran’s oil fields, causing the price of oil to soar. Iran would use that circumstance to strengthen its determination to annihilate Israel.

The use of nuclear weapons is far off in the horizon, Dr. Vered avers.

He sees one other solution to shorten the war: an American decision to join Israel and strike Iran.

Israel saves life of top Hamas official's daughter

Headline News
Sunday, April 25, 2010 Israel Today Staff

Israel at the weekend saved the life of the three-year-old daughter of a top Gaza-based Hamas leader, though the act of kindness was completely ignored by the terrorist group and regional Arab media.

The girl, daughter of Hamas Interior Minister Elham Fathi Hammad, was the victim of a unsuccessful heart operation in Gaza. She was in critical condition when Jordan's King Abdullah II requested that Israel allow her immediate transport to Amman for emergency surgery.

Israel agreed to the transfer, but the girl was in no condition to travel such a distance, so was first rushed to Barzilai Hospital in the nearby Israeli coastal city of Ashkelon, where doctors worked for hours to repair the damage of her earlier surgery and stabilize her.

A Jordanian helicopter was later escorted through Israeli airspace to pick up the girl and move her to Amman.

Jordanian media later reported on the incident, but completely cut out the portion where the girl's life was saved by Israeli doctors or that Israel has not hesitated to allow the unfettered transport through its territory of a family member of one of its most dedicated enemies.

Hammad later issued a public statement thanking Jordan and King Abdullah. He did not mention Israel at all.

Of course, Israel wasn't mentioned or given any credit. In the minds of Israel's enemies, Israel does not exist. However, that will change very soon!

The Long Arm of Hashem's Justice...Don't Mess with Jerusalem!

Friday, 16 April 2010

The Long Arm of Hashem's Justice
Some people think they're smart, like the British folks who run the British Advertising Standards Authority (ASA). The day before yesterday, the senseless stuffed-shirts declared that the Western Wall and the site of our Holy Temple in Jerusalem are not part of Israel, banning Israeli Tourist adverts that included photos of these holy sites.
The bumbling Brits didn't realize that when you mess around with Jerusalem and the Wall, you mess around with Hashem.
"Aha, Great Britain - are you so brazen to discourage tourism to My Holy City?" Hashem asks. "You question My children's right to their Father's palace? You shall not have a single tourist entering or leaving your silly Island!"
So what did Hashem do?
Hashem let a remote volcano in Iceland erupt, from the Icelandic mountain Eyjaffjalljokull, whose ash cloud grounded all air traffic above Britain yesterday, leaving thousands of passengers stranded. You see, the microscopic particles which make up volcanic ash pose a threat to aircraft because they can affect visibility and get sucked into aircraft engines, causing total breakdown.
No one remembers when British airspace was totally closed. Such a natural phenomena as an atmospheral ash cloud is one in a zillion. But, Hashem in implementing His Divine justice is defying statistics more and more as we get closer to Moshiach.
Britain's air traffic service said late Thursday it was extending a ban on most air traffic until 1200GMT (8 a.m EDT) Friday, this morning. Meanwhile the financial losses and the chaos is mindboggling.
Who else wants to fool around with Hashem and Jerusalem? Step up to the plate...

Psalm 83 Conflict on The Horizon?

Prophecy News Watch

Story link here

Major Mideast wars are coming according to the Bible prophecies in Psalm 83 and Ezekiel 38-39. It would be prudent for people to prepare now, in 2010, for their soon and sequential arrivals.

It is public knowledge that as of December 2009 Iran, Syria, Hezbollah, and Hamas became allied together by bonafide war pacts against Israel. Iran is a member of Ezekiel 38-39 and Syria, Hezbollah, and Hamas appear to be identified in Psalm 83. These war pacts reportedly commit them to fight alongside each other should any of them come under attack by Israel. Had these war pacts been in place during the 22 day conflict between Israel and Hamas that ended in January 2009, the outcome could have been dramatically different.

Back then the Israeli Defense Forces (I.D.F.) seemingly ambushed Hamas with their retaliatory show of force and caught these others off guard. None of them were able to lift a finger to rescue Hamas from the pounding inflicted by the I.D.F. Iran’s nuclear program was incomplete, Hezbollah was in the process of restocking their rocket arsenals, and Syrian war scars from 1948, 1967, and 1973 made them reluctant to join alongside Hamas. Thus, these vowed enemies of Israel were reduced to sideline saber-rattling at the time.

However, matters have deteriorated and are quite different today. A brief review of Mideast events occurring since the Israel – Hamas war suggests the Fertile Crescent is presently a ticking end time’s bomb set to explode. In addition to the war pacts described above, here are a few more troublesome interim occurrences:

1. Israelis are being fitted for gas masks.
2. Israelis are preparing for a multi-front chemical war with Iran, Hezbollah, Syria, and Hamas.
3. Israel is constructing new and renovating thousands of old bomb shelters.
4. Israel is threatening a pre-emptive strike against Iran’s nuclear sites.
5. Iran could have a nuclear bomb within eighteen months.
6. Syria is now thought to have the most powerful scud missiles in the world.
7. Syria has reportedly shipped scud missiles to Hezbollah.
8. Syria has threatened to attack major Israeli cities in the event of war.
9. Hezbollah has declared that it can wipe out one-half of Israel’s army.
10. Hezbollah has been training for hand to hand combat inside Israeli cities.
11. Hezbollah and Syria reportedly have chemical weapons.
12. Hezbollah has stockpiled over 50,000 rockets.
13. Jerusalem and Tel Aviv are within rocket reach of Israel’s enemies.
14. Hamas reportedly has rockets that can reach Israel’s nuclear reactor in Dimona.

These are just a few of the numerous events that point toward war soon in the Middle East. The Israel – Hamas war created a heightened degree of animosity amongst Israel’s Arab and Persian enemies against Israel. As a result of the conflict, Turkey restricted relations with Israel and the Arab League voted unanimously again not to normalize relations with Israel.

Warranting additional concerns, King Abdullah of Jordan recently voiced serious dissatisfaction about his country's fragile peace treaty with Israel. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, he warned that "Jerusalem could blow up into another war" and declared "Jordan was better off economically before it made peace with Israel in 1994." Jordan and Egypt are the only Arab States presently at peace with Israel making Abdullah's statements extremely disconcerting.

Odds are strong that war is about to break out soon in the Middle East. Diplomatic solutions to resolve the conflict have continually failed. Relations between Iran and Israel, the Arab League and Israel, and even America and Israel are desperately tense and in a seeming state of disrepair.

At no time in Israel’s history has it ever faced an existential threat of the magnitude it faces presently. Israel’s ancient enemies possessed bows and arrows, but today the Jewish State faces arsenals that can wipe it off the map.

Humanity ought to now heed the war prophecies of the Bible and prepare for war rather than peace in the Middle East! These prophecies are scheduled to occur soon and sequentially each building upon the other. According to scripture the aftermath of these wars will lead to a one world order, construction of a third Jewish Temple, and the arrival of Antichrist.

Time is of the essence evidenced by events stage setting in the Holy Land. Christians, not knowing if they will experience these prophetic wars or be Raptured prior, should consider living each day on earth as though it were their last. In so doing, they will improve their Christian witness. These are the days when Evangelists and Eschatologists should work together in order to bring more people to Christ.

The Syrian Missile Crisis: Threat of War Very Real

By Sean Osborne
Eschatology Today
Saturday, April 17, 2010

The threat of a regional war involving Syria, Lebanon, Hezbollah and Israel is more ominous today that it has been at any time since the end of the brief summer war of 2006. The hair-trigger this time involves the reported Syrian delivery of WMD-capable SS-1C "Scud-B" ballistic missiles or, according to anonymous Israeli sources the SS-1E "Scud D," to the Shi'a terrorist organization Hezbollah in Lebanon.

On Tuesday, 13 April 2010, Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak went public in confirming the stunning news that the governments of Syria and Lebanon were in blatant and deliberate violation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701 which brought a tenuous end to the Israel-Hezbollah war of July-August 2006. The bombshell news first reported by the Kuwaiti Al-Rai news agency was that Syria was in the process of transferring Scud ballistic missiles to Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Item 8 of UNSCR 1071 called for "no sales or supply of arms and related materiel to Lebanon except as authorized by its Government," and Item 14 called for "the Government of Lebanon to secure its borders and other entry points to prevent the entry in Lebanon without its consent of arms or related materiel," and Item 15(a) which decided "all States shall take the necessary measures to prevent, by their nationals or from their territories ... The sale or supply to any entity or individual in Lebanon of arms and related materiel of all types, including weapons and ammunition, military vehicles and equipment, paramilitary equipment, and spare parts for the aforementioned, whether or not originating in their territories; and 15(b) The provision to any entity or individual in Lebanon of any technical training or assistance related to the provision, manufacture, maintenance or use of the items listed in subparagraph (a) above..."

With the reported transfer of Scud ballistic missiles and the training in Syria of Hezbollah troops on the operation and maintenance of these weapons Syria has been caught red-handed and in clear war-provoking violation of UNSCR 1701. The government of Lebanon shares in culpability due to its obvious complicity in the arming and training of Hezbollah's forces due to its failure to control its national territory and borders. This is the most egregious violation of UNSCR 1701 to date, as evidenced by the wholesale re-arming of Hezbollah with even more advanced weapons (such as Syrian-made M-600 rockets and Russian-made Igla-S MANPADS) by Iran, Syria and possibly North Korea during the past 3 years and 7 months, and constitutes a rock-solid casus belli for Israel to immediately begin pre-emptively striking the missiles, and fixed targets related to the weapons transfer and associated training facilities in both Lebanon and Syria. Syrian President Bashar al-Assad bears the lion's share of personal responsibility for provoking the threat of a regional war which could very rapidly escalate to a large-scale exchange of weapons of mass destruction in the Levant.

While rumors continue to circulate in major world capitals that the Syrian's transferred top-of-the line SS-1E Scud-D (50 meter CEP) missiles to Hezbollah, no proof has yet been made public to confirm the rumor. These missiles would give Hezbollah the capability ot act as a proxy for Iran in launching a preemptive or retaliatory strike against Israel's Dimona nuclear complex should Israel strike Iranian nuclear targets in the near term. Sans photographic or human intelligence proof of the Scud variant transferred to Hezbollah, my assessment is that Syria sent the SS-1C Scud-B variant to Hezbollah. Scud-Bs are 1960s-era missiles (obsolete for a modern army), and they would suit Hezbollah better because they're very much a weapon of terror with a 900 meter CEP (Circular Error Probable). Scud-B can carry a thickened VX gas chemical warhead. As with a tossed grenade - close is good enough.

In either case, once Israel confirms Hezbollah's possession of Scud missiles and their operational status vice a malicious ruse of inoperable missile shells, an imminent and series of strategic strikes by Israel would be virtually assured. Should these strikes occur, as I believe they will, then this will likely become a war of widespread WMD use per Isaiah 17:4-11, followed by a rapid escalation into the fulfillment of Psalm 83, Joshua 13:1-7 and Zechariah 9.

Today we should enjoy the calm before the storm, a storm which lies a hair's breadth distance between the current relative calm and full-scale war.

A Fresh Perspective

Posted: Wed 14th April 2010 8.43 AM  | AuthorFlame - (Facts and Logic About the Middle East)

When a conversation I recently had with a friend of mine turned to the topic of Israel, he told me that Israel needed to "shape up".
It quickly became apparent that my friend lacked perspective when it came to Israel's behavior. I asked him how many Jews he thought there were in the world and his response was ten percent of the world's total population. I was shocked at his over-estimation! When I told him that actually it's more like 0.2 percent, it was his turn to be shocked.
The lesson we can all learn from this is that we must provide some perspective to those people (including President Obama and his administration) who simply don't get why Israel cannot simply continue to "take risks for peace." Outside of the United States, Israel is the only country where Jews can expect to feel at home---but even this tiny sliver of land is surrounded by an ocean of venomous, violent hatred.
To get some perspective, let's start with what Jews have already lost. Property deeds of the over 800,000 Jewish refugees from Arab lands amounted to 100,000 square miles, or five times the current size of Israel. These Jewish refugees have of course never been compensated for the theft of this land, nor for billions of dollars of other assets. So when President Obama expects us to believe that building an additional 1600 housing units in a Jewish neighborhood of the capital of Israel is a major catastrophe, how can he expect us to take him seriously, let alone believe him?
In addition to what Jewish refugees have already lost, Israel has given up even more in her search for peace with her Arab neighbors. Perhaps this administration should focus on the world's real catastrophes, rather than developing a UN-like obsession with Israel's behavior. When the Iranian regime stole the election and then brutally repressed and killed its citizens, President Obama didn't want to come across as meddling in Iran's internal affaires. When Israel builds in her capital, apparently meddling in her internal affairs is no problem at all.
As I told my friend loudly and clearly, and as we must all tell everyone loudly and clearly, Jews comprise the tiniest of minorities and have every right to govern their own very small country as they see fit. Without perspective, understanding Israel's impossible situation is simply not possible.

A Time to Remember

by Gil Ronen Shoah Memorial Ceremonies Begin from Israel National News

The official events commemorating the Holocaust or Shoah – the systematic slaughter of the Jews in Europe in the course of World War 2 – began at Yad Vashem at 8:00 PM Sunday.

After more than a millennium in which they lived in Europe – often persecuted, sometimes thriving – the Jews of the continent were rounded up systematically by Germany and methodically put to death. For years before their annihilation in death camps too ghastly to imagine, they were starved and humiliated, yet they managed to put up a fight in places such as the Warsaw and Vilnius ghettos, and even inside the death camps of Sobibor, Treblinka and Auschwitz.

German soldiers and their collaborators in France, Poland, Rumania, Hungary, the Ukraine and elsewhere in Germany's temporary “Third Reich” empire were responsible for some of the worst atrocities on record, against a people who were unarmed and without a state of their own. A race theory was propounded and anyone with Jewish ancestry was reviled and persecuted – as were gypsies, homosexuals, and the mentally and physically ill.

Two thirds of Europe's Jews, 6 million victims including 1.5 million children, were murdered by the Nazi regime which feared them more than it did the world's most formidable armies. Trains carrying Jewish men, women and children to the slaughter received priority over those shipping men and arms to the front even when Germany's military situation was deteriorating.

65 years after the liberation of the last death camp, the Jewish people in Israel alone numbers over 5.6 million strong. Its army is feared throughout the region and is said to be armed with the world's most potent weapons. The grandsons of Holocaust survivors are its generals, educated from childhood to remember the horror and to say “Never again!”.

Jews rounded up for transport to slaughter.

Obama intends to impose new peace plan

Israel Today Headline News

The Washington Post reported on Wednesday that US President Barack Obama is seriously considering imposing a new comprehensive peace plan on Israel and the Palestinians in six months.

According to the report, Obama asked a room full of his own and past presidential advisors last month what they thought about introducing a new peace proposal. They all are said to have backed the idea, so long as the plan is based on previous US-authored peace plans, such as the Wye River Accords, the "Road Map" and the Annapolis understandings.

Israeli media noted that this approach would be a reversal of how Obama has gone about overseeing Middle East peace so far. Up until now, the Obama Administration has tried to squeeze concessions from Israel and, to a lesser degree, the Palestinians in an effort to get both sides to sit down and hammer out a deal between themselves.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu remains strongly opposed to an imposed peace plan, and is not likely to be very welcoming of Obama's efforts. But the thinking is that Obama may tie Israel's acceptance of the new plan to stronger action against Iran's nuclear program.

Story source here

In my opinion, Israel must not be backed into a corner through any kind of forced peace agreement. However, we know from Daniel 9:27 that the AC will confirm a covenant with many - involving Israel, and whether that nation has agreed to it or not.

Note: I'm not saying that Obama is the AC, or, that the "new imposed peace plan" is the one spoken of in Daniel, but events taking place today are food for thought.

Don

New Peace Plan by US President?? Are you kidding???!!!!

This makes me want to move to Israel, more specifically in EAST JERUSALEM!!! I'd love to get a Thousand more families to do the same... !!!!! Jerusalem is the UNDIVIDED Capital of Israel!!!!!

WASHINGTON – US President Barack Obama should make a dramatic trip to the Middle East, introduce a new peace plan, and refer it to the United Nations should Israel or the Palestinians refuse to endorse it, a former senior US official says.

In a Washington Post piece he co-wrote, Former National security Advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski argues that "Only a bold and dramatic gesture in a historically significant setting can generate the political and psychological momentum needed for a major breakthrough."

Notably, Brzezinski recently participated in a meeting held by President Obama with several senior figures and specialists to discuss his new Mideast peace plan.

The US president should appear both at the Knesset and before the Palestinian parliament and announce his new plan for ending the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Brzezinski wrote.

"He should do so in the company of Arab leaders and members of the Quartet," he wrote. "A subsequent speech by Obama in Jerusalem's Old City, addressed to all the people in the region and evocative of his Cairo speech to the Muslim world in June 2009, could be the culminating event in this journey for peace."

Generating worldwide pressure
The peace initiative proposed in the article includes the following principles: Resolution of the refugee problem by granting them compensation and resettling them in the new Palestinian state, rather than in Israel; Jerusalem's division and shifting the Old City to international control; Israeli withdrawal based on the Green Line, with minor adjustments; and the deployment of international forces between the Palestinian state and Jordan.

However, Brzezinski warns that "If the Israelis or the Palestinians refuse to accept this basic formula as the point of departure for negotiations, the Obama administration must be prepared to pursue its initiative by different means."

"The administration must convey to the parties that if the offer is rejected by either or both, the United States will seek the UN Security Council's endorsement of this framework for peace," he wrote, "thus generating worldwide pressure on the recalcitrant party."

The proposal echoes recent reports whereby Washington will consider an abstention in a Security Council vote on Israel's east Jerusalem construction, as opposed to the traditional US veto in such cases.

Gaza can smuggle new cars through large tunnels

I imagined and wrote about tunnels large enough to stand up in, in my novel, Barriers...now it is confirmed! How amazing that a humanitarian crisis is being claimed by men who can afford $38,000 dollar cars!! More lies by those who wish to destroy Israel's credibility...now the tables are turned and their lies exposed!

by Hana Levi Julian Gaza Smugglers Import New Cars

Gaza businessmen are now importing new cars - but the price tag comes with a hefty commission for the tunnel smugglers who bring them in through the rocky and sometimes dangerous underground network.

Mobile phone footage obtained by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) this week showed conclusive proof of tunneling operations so advanced that entire cars are being imported deep under ground, unscathed, into Gaza.

The footage was filmed in a tunnel 6.5 feet high and 10 feet wide, bolstered by wooden supports, located under the border between Gaza and Egypt. It showed a bulldozer pulling a shining new car through roughly-cut walls, with dirt falling from the ceiling on to the satiny-smooth surface of the hood as it moved through the tunnel.

It looked like one of the smaller subway tunnels in New York City.

The BBC report tried to portray Israel as the villain, quoting Gaza City businessman Ahmed Bahloul saying that he wanted a new car, “but because of Israel's blockade, the only way I could get it is through the tunnels.”

BBC Failed to Note...
The British news service explained, “For the past three years, Israel has enforced a tightened economic blockade on Gaza, only allowing in limited humanitarian aid.” It failed to note that even at the height of Israel's war against the ruling Hamas terrorists who for years fired thousands of deadly rocket attacks at southern Israeli civilians, the Jewish State allowed daily deliveries of tons of humanitarian aid into the region, often at the expense of Israel's security.

The report also did not mention that Israel's crossings with Gaza are opened daily for deliveries of tons of humanitarian aid, in addition to passage of Gaza medical patients into Israel, and traffic of nongovermental organization staff both in and out of the region.

It did note, though, that “Egypt has also closed its border with Gaza, only opening it occasionally.”

The report noted that Bahloul's shiny new car cost $28,000, with an additional “surcharge” of $10,000 for the tunnel operators (read: smugglers) – a fee that the “successful businessman who owns a car garage” gladly paid, and was clearly able to pay, despite ongoing complaints about the humanitarian crisis in Gaza – in order to have his brand new car.

"It's a lot of money, but I wanted a new car,” Bahloul commented. At least 200 such cars have been brought in to Gaza through the tunnels in the past three years, both before and after Israel's counter terrorist Operation Cast Lead, which allegedly crippled the region's economy.

From Yoav-An Israeli Soldier's Life and Thoughts

This from a friend of mine, Yoav, who is an IDF soldier. He posts his thoughts on a blog and has given me permission to post some of them here. I should have done this at the beginning of Pesach, but it is still relevant and timely, as you will see. I highly recommend the link to his last year's thoughts on Passover at the end of his post!!

Paying the price for other's freedom
Posted: 30 Mar 2010 11:42 AM PDT
Passover, as you all know, is the Jewish holiday of freedom. Originally, Passover was meant to celebrate our people's Exodus from Egypt. But over the last 60 years, freedom and Passover have taken on an additional meaning: - Israeli freedom. Our freedom to live the way we want - as a nation and as individuals. Our independence as a state.

But that freedom comes with a price tag.

Many IDF soldiers, including me of course, spent (too) much time at checkpoints or improvised road-blocks in Judea and Samaria - the territories in which both Israelis and Arab "Palestinians" live. Roughly speaking, one could say that what we basically do in those checkpoints is to limit and restrict the freedom of others. .

Actually, that's true. But only partially true, because there’s also the other side of the coin. In the harsh environment in Judea and Samaria, we have to restrict some of the freedom of others in order to save human lives.
I remember this one time when a Palestinian ambulance rushed towards our checkpoint. Our normal procedure is to check all vehicles carefully, since they might be booby-trapped, used for weapons smuggling or even infiltrating terrorists into the heart of Israel. The procedure instructs us to check all vehicles, including ambulances - as we've already seen an (example-here and here) that terrorists use them as well.

Anyway, when we stopped the ambulance, we found out that it carried a pregnant woman, waiting to give birth. We were just about to search the ambulance (which takes at least 3-5 minutes), when the checkpoint commander, an IDF officer, told us to let the ambulance go.

At the time we couldn’t understand his actions, but today I understand. Freedom isn't free, that’s a cliché; but furthermore - sometimes you have to pay a price for other's freedom. In our case - take the risk on ourselves.

Happy Passover\Pesach,
Yoav B
